ROOF REMEDIATION UPGRADES

PROJECT DURATION  | 2 weeks

OBJECTIVES

The primary objective of the project was to effectively execute a series of essential roof remediation enhancements, prioritising the utmost safety and maintaining high quality standards. This was especially critical as the work had to align with the specific requirements and tight deadlines during the shutdown period. Our focus was to ensure that all project deliverables were completed efficiently without compromising safety or quality, despite the challenging time constraints. This approach was essential to minimise downtime and maintain productivity at the site, underlining our capability in delivering quality services while meeting client needs with precision and reliability.

SCOPE / SERVICES PROVIDED

Tasman Rope Access provided a comprehensive suite of services tailored to ensure the structural integrity and longevity of the roof. The services rendered included the installation of tension nets, designed to facilitate safe and efficient access to challenging areas. Additionally, abrasive blasting was employed to prepare surfaces for further treatment. Parent metal repairs and compensatory plate installations were executed using coded welding techniques to ensure
robustness. The project also incorporated a range of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods such as UTW2, MPI, and visual inspections to verify the integrity of welds and coatings. Initially, a C3 Coating System was applied for protective measures, with plans set to upgrade to a C5 Coating System to further enhance durability and resistance against environmental factors.

CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

TRA encountered several challenges that were effectively mitigated with strategic solutions. The primary challenge was accessing the internal roof for repairs, which was addressed by installing a tension net. This innovative solution not only ensured safe access but also significantly reduced the time and cost associated with the work.

Additionally, we faced delays in isolations, which we countered by proactively advancing other scope activities, ensuring that project momentum was maintained. Another challenge was the need to adapt to changes in scope execution. To manage this, we maintained effective communication with engineers and representatives, ensuring that all modifications were clearly understood and implemented accurately, thereby aligning with project goals and client expectations.

OUTCOMES

The innovations implemented by Tasman Rope Access (TRA) in the  Roof Remediation Upgrades project significantly reduced both the time and costs associated with the work.

This notable improvement in efficiency was recognised by our client, highlighting TRA’s ability to not only meet but exceed expectations in project execution. These enhancements not only led to swifter completion times but also minimised the overall project costs, thereby soldifying TRA’s reputation for delivering substantial operational efficiencies.
