PROJECT EXECUTION
Managing a multi skilled work force addressing SIMOPs challenges within the constraints of a large caustic tank. This included managing complex rigging operations for the removal and repair of the agitator shaft, along with implementing structural repairs to meet API Tank standards.
CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS
During the project, we encountered several significant challenges that enabled our expertise and problem-solving abilities to shine.
One of the major issues was the agitator shaft shearing off the gearbox coupling, which caused extensive damage to the tank. Initially, the full extent of this damage was not understood until thorough inspections were conducted. To address these challenges, we developed a detailed scope of work in line with API standards once the extent of the damage was fully understood. This comprehensive plan ensured that all necessary repairs were identified and addressed systematically.
Additionally, we engaged closely with the client to develop a safe and effective methodology to return the tank to service. This collaborative approach allowed us to tackle the unforeseen issues efficiently, ensuring that the tank was restored to its required certification standards while
maintaining the safety and integrity of the project.
OUTCOMES
Despite the consistent flow of emergent works due to the tank’s condition, TRA delivered the main scope of the project on time and within budget. Our ability to adapt to unforeseen issues and incorporate additional tasks without compromising the overall schedule was a testament to our expertise and flexibility. Ultimately, the tank was brought up to the required certification standards, demonstrating our commitment to quality and client satisfaction.
