General Maintenance & Coating Remediation

OBJECTIVES

The primary objectives of the project were to provide a comprehensive maintenance and repair service utilising rope access and ground support, and to ensure that all tasks were executed to the highest standards of quality and safety. Our approach was designed to address diverse maintenance challenges efficiently while prioritising the safety of all personnel involved.

SCOPE / SERVICES PROVIDED

The services provided in the project included a skilled team of rope access technicians and ground crew comprising Painter/Blasters, NACE coating inspectors, BMWs, Fitters, Riggers, Forklift operators, NDT technicians, and Poly pipe welders. Their tasks encompassed a wide range of maintenance activities such as coating rectifications on structural steel, tanks, pipes, and cables, along with structural repairs, welding, and piping repairs. The team also handled conveyor repairs among other essential maintenance operations, ensuring comprehensive support and expertise throughout the project duration.

CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

The Acid areas posed a substantial challenge due to ongoing issues on-site. We mitigated this by encapsulating the structural steel to protect it and collaborating with the on-site team to schedule work during more favorable weather conditions. This approach allowed us to conduct the necessary tasks within the appropriate timeline.

Another significant challenge was dealing with highly corroded steel. This required a more detailed inspection process, during which we worked closely with the client to determine whether to replace or repair affected members.  Coordinating these rectification works ensured efficient use of our time and prevented the need to remobilise to the same area, completing all tasks within one timeline.

To improve on-site conditions, we collaborated with the asset integrity team to ensure the best coating systems were used in each plant area. We recommended alternative products when necessary, leveraging our close working relationship with paint manufacturers and the on-site team to ensure optimal protection for their assets in various environments.

OUTCOMES

The culmination of our efforts was evident in the successful completion of all project works within the estimated timelines. This achievement underscored our team’s efficiency and effective management capabilities. By adhering strictly to planned schedules and maintaining a flexible approach to unforeseen challenges, we demonstrated our proficiency in project execution and management.
